What is Psychosomatic?

So far, there are at least two types of disease that are widely known, namely viral and bacterial infections. But did you know, it turns out that physical illness can also occur due to stress, you know. This condition is known as psychosomatic. What's that?

Psychosomatic disorders are conditions that generally occur due to stress. This disease involves the mind and body, and leads to the appearance of physical ailments. Psychosomatic disorders cause the mind to affect the body, and eventually cause the disease to appear or the disease to get worse.

In other words, psychosomatic disorders are used to describe physical complaints that become more severe due to psychological or mental factors, such as stress, depression, or anxiety.

When viewed from the perspective of psychology, the term psychosomatic is a disease or disorder that causes physical pain. This condition can also cause problems with body functions.

Surprisingly, however, there are usually no problems or abnormalities on physical examination. Even an X-ray or blood test will not be able to find the cause of the physical pain.

Is it true that the mind can affect the body and trigger physical illness? The answer is yes. In fact, a person's thoughts can cause symptoms or physical changes in his body. A simple description of this condition is, when a person feels very afraid and depressed, he may experience symptoms such as cold sweat, fast heart rate, nausea to vomiting, headache, stomach pain, to muscle pain. These conditions are then referred to as physical illness due to the mind.

Physical changes due to psychosomatic disorders occur due to increased electrical activity or nerve impulses from the brain throughout the body. This condition is also related to the release of adrenaline into the blood, causing symptoms of physical illness. Although the cause is not clearly known, nerve impulses are thought to be one of the reasons for the appearance of physical symptoms due to a state of mind.

Diseases That Can Appear Due to Psychosomatics
Diseases that arise due to psychosomatic disorders will not be found or detected physically. However, the symptoms of the disease are obvious and can be very disturbing. As already explained, this is related to mental conditions or mind factors that affect the body.

Although the disease caused by psychosomatic disorders cannot be clearly detected, the symptoms that arise due to this condition can actually exacerbate certain diseases. There are several types of diseases that can be aggravated by mental conditions, such as stomach disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or psoriasis. These illnesses can recur or get worse due to stress or mental problems.

If you feel you are experiencing this condition, immediately do an examination to the hospital. In fact, medical care and treatment may be needed to make people with psychosomatic disorders feel better. There are several treatment methods that can be used to treat this condition, ranging from psychotherapy, relaxation or meditation exercises, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, physiotherapy, electrical therapy, and the consumption of certain drugs.
